Instead of ignoring the editorials or responding to them constructively, President Trump did what he does best: plunged himself into chaos.

Between the president's attacks on CNN reporter Jim Acosta and the his insistence on calling the media the "enemy of the people," it's been a particularly brutal summer for the free press. Led by The Boston Globe, members of the mainstream media decided to publish dozens of editorials defending their work and their constitutional right to exist.

The campaign was organized under the hashtag #EnemyOfNone.
