We first saw Cruz's "beard" back in Nov. 2018, when he debuted a dryer linthair-covered face after Thanksgiving. Since then, it's filled out a bit. But the two gray portions especially are confusing the hell out of people.
So when Cruz stood beside Trump at the border, his facial hair unsurprisingly mesmerized the masses. Jokes started to fly and there were Wolverine comparisons a'plenty.
